Water may seem pretty unappetizing when it’s cold outside, but water isn’t the only way to stay hydrated! Treat yourself to warm herbal teas, add some fresh mint or a slice of lemon to spruce it up and enjoy at least a few cups a day.

Ditch those sugary drinks that only sap moisture from your skin and increase inflammation in your body and instead, try healthy DIY versions, like this delicious Paleo Pumpkin Spice Latte, free from all harmful food triggers including dairy and sugar. You won’t even know the difference!

Snack smart before those holiday gatherings

This is the time of year when everyone is already planning their holiday get togethers, be it Thanksgiving or office Christmas parties and you know what that means…

Unfortunately, the options are not usually the healthiest so to avoid overindulging in the “good” stuff, be sure to have a fiber rich snack before heading out to help fill you up so you won’t be tempted.

Raw nuts like almonds and walnuts are always a good idea, or try dipping some healthy crackers or veggies in some guacamole or hummus. Yum!

Follow the 20 minute rule after eating

When a meal is delicious, it’s easy to want to reach for second helpings right away, but did you know it takes up to 20 minutes for your stomach to properly fill up?

Next time you’ve polished off a delicious plate of your favourite comfort food, be sure to wait at least 20 minutes before heading for more. You may find that you feel satisfied after the time is up, but if you’re still hungry, by all means, get yourself another plate!
