5 Relaxing Teas to Calm an Anxious Mind

Most of us don’t think twice about stopping at Starbucks and picking up a foamy latte or Frappuccino.

Unfortunately, these drinks are usually loaded in sugar that will only contribute to anxiety and stress by leaving you feeling jittery and irritable shortly after drinking them.

Why not ditch the sugar and indulge in one of these soothing teas that will nourish your insides and leave your mind feeling calm and relaxed?

Chamomile

You don’t have to know too much about tea to know that chamomile is a good option when you’re feeling a little frazzled.

Chamomile contains a natural chemical called apigenin, which is thought to be responsible for its calming effect.

Either way, we know this one works!

Lavender

Most of us know how lavender essential oil can help to soothe a stressed out mind, but you may be surprised to learn that you can enjoy the flowers in a tea too!

It’s soothing properties and active compounds make it ideal for alleviating stress and anxiety and will help you drift off to dreamland if you have trouble sleeping.

Passionflower

Hands up if you struggle to relax due to a brain that doesn’t seem to stop running. Ours are all the way up!

Well, passionflower has been shown to boost Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in your brain, a compound that helps to lower active brain activity. A calmer mind means you’ll be better able to relax and enjoy a good night’s rest.

Rose

Rose tea is not only wonderfully comforting and delightful with its pleasant, floral taste, it’s also one of the best teas for reducing stress and depression.

Rose helps to balance stress hormones by having a natural sedative effect on the nervous system, isn’t it amazing that a flower can do that?!

Lemon balm

This one is especially well-known for its ability to help the body cope with emotional stress.

Lemon balm is often found as one of the key ingredients in sleepy teas containing chamomile and lavender to name a couple.

Like Rose tea, lemon balm has a natural tranquilizing effect on the nervous system to help stabilize your nervous system, reduce anxiety and help you sleep.

Add these teas to your daily life and just watch how much calmer and relaxed you feel on a daily basis.
