If you’re anything like us during the sunny season, then chances are you love munching on fruit on especially warm days to help cool you down and because, let’s face it, fruit is delicious and healthy too!
What you may never have considered though, is putting your fruit directly onto your skin. Don’t worry we aren’t crazy, but applying fruit topically to your skin can reap an array of benefits and may leave your skin feeling silky soft and looking gorgeously bright and radiant.
Here’s 3 of our favourite recipes!
Strawberries are one of our favourite fruits. They’re juicy and delicious and absolute heaven when dipped in melted dark chocolate, but we may be getting a bit ahead of ourselves here…
Strawberries have a very high water content to hydrate your skin cells and they are brimming in antioxidant Vitamin C. This powerful vitamin helps to fight inflammation in the skin so you can enjoy a clearer, more even skin tone and it helps to boost collagen production for firmer, plumper skin. They also contain an important compound called Ellagic acid that provides some UV protection, but don’t skip the sunscreen though!
This recipe contains strawberries along with gently exfoliating yogurt and hydrating and brightening honey for skin that glows for days!
Cucumber is truly one of the most refreshing fruits! It has the highest water content of any solid food along with a heaping of vitamins and minerals to truly feed your skin with the good stuff.
Cucumber contains minerals that help to reduce swelling and puffiness, making them ideal to apply around the eye area as well and they also help to lighten dark spots, or hyperpigmentation, caused by too much sun or hormonal factors.
This fantastically soothing mask also contains aloe, which is deeply hydrating and soothing and ideal for calming the skin if it is inflamed or after too much sun!
In the summer it’s all about brightening the skin, nobody wants their dull skin to stand out on a gorgeous summer’s day!
This mask will do just that, as well as fight bacteria in the skin along with free radicals that may speed up the aging process.
Turmeric is one of the most potent anti-inflammatories around and will help to fight off pesky blemishes for skin that looks visibly clearer and healthier, while lemon is rich in Vitamin C to brighten and even skin tone as well as contains potent antibacterial properties.
Here’s how to whip it up!
These 3 face masks will have your skin summer ready faster than you can say 1-2-3!
