Tips For Getting Healthier After Summer Bingeing

If you are anything like us here at Green Sisters, then your Summer was filled with laughter and festivities with your closest family and friends, along with some delicious food, and possibly a wee bit of alcohol.

We certainly aren’t here to judge! Summer is a time to get outdoors and enjoy all the season has to offer!

Unfortunately, too many days of naughty treats, and one too many glasses of wine, might leave you feeling anything but healthy as Summer draws to a close.

We have good news for you!

A new season is all about transition, and what better time to transition to a healthier you than right now, just in time for Fall?

We have put together just a few, but very helpful tips to get you back on track to eating right and moving your body so that you not only love your body on the outside, but you have abundant energy and feel clean and wonderful on the inside too!

 Out of Sight, Out of Mind

This is probably one of the best bits of advice we can give you.

It doesn’t matter how strong you think your willpower is, if you don’t keep unhealthy treats in your house, you are less likely to slip up (who wants to drive at 2AM to buy a chocolate bar?)

There are going to be days you have sugar cravings as you start to consume less of it, and it’s on these days when reaching into that cookie jar will be just too easy.

It’s as simple as this; do not keep unhealthy treats in your house, and you will find your body starting to crave them less as you eat them less. 

Start Slow

When it comes to exercise and getting back into a routine, the last thing you want to do is push yourself.

This is not only dangerous for your health if you are unfit, it’s also likely to discourage you so you won’t feel motivated for your next workout.

Start slow by simply taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or going for a morning or evening stroll.

Do Substitute

If there’s one thing we don’t stand behind, it’s those diets that are all about helping you to lose weight, rather than helping you to feel good about yourself too. These same diets usually deprive you of almost everything, and you can find yourself munching on a cracker with some lettuce for lunch (no thanks!)

When it comes to eating healthier, you should still be able to enjoy good food, but it should be foods that nourish and benefit your health too.

Substitute unhealthy, processed and sugary snacks for fresh fruits, greek yogurt and maybe a drizzle of maple syrup. Who says eating healthy has to be boring!

Have A Cheat Day

A cheat day once a week or once every 2 weeks is a must to keep you on track with your new healthy eating plan, so that you never feel deprived.

Pick one day once a week or once every 2 week and allow yourself to enjoy whatever you’d like! As long as it’s just once a week or once every 2 weeks, it won’t affect your new healthy food plan.
